Classes:
Who: Classes taught by Danny and Sharon Sumner, SharSum Paint
What: This is a four hour class – Price is $40 per person – Classes are kept small, usually no more than 6 in a class. Participants bring a small, clean object to paint (wood, metal, concrete, fabric – just about anything). Each person is provided a sample size of paint (your choice of color) and a starter kit which includes brush, distressing sponge, lint-free rags, and handout of tips and tricks. There will be no tests and no pressure. : ) It is a fun, fast four hours and the satisfaction of transforming an old object into something new, using a Missouri product, and knowing you did it yourself is very rewarding. Refreshments will be provided. Be sure to wear old clothes.
Why: Learn more about painting with chalk-based paint. SharSum Paint sells “Missouri Limestone Company’s chalk-based paint, which comes in a wide variety of colors. You will learn tips and tricks of painting and distressing and learn about which type of sealer or no sealer should be used. Examples will be provided, and as drying time permits, you will have a chance to wax or seal your finished product, if needed. Additional paint and samples of wax and poly sealer will also be for sale.
Where: Gift Emporium & Cafe, 228 S. Highway 185, Sullivan, MO 63080 – on the road to Meramec State Park on the left side of the road, across from the Knights of Columbus building. You can’t miss it. Tan building with a green roof. We also conduct classes at Spirals Art Gallery & Studio in Cuba, 100 Madison, Cuba, MO. Building behind the hot dog stand (on the right) at the 4-way stop.
When: Classes are held periodically. They are usually held Saturdays, Sundays, and Mondays. Check back here for updates on the next class.
In Your Home Classes:
Who: Classes taught by Danny and Sharon Sumner, SharSum Paint – hosted by you
What: This is a four hour class – The class is free for the person hosting the class. You will only need to provide refreshments for the guests you invite. You will need a place where usually, at least 4 and no more than 8 guests can fit comfortably and you are comfortable having paint used, although this paint does clean up with soap and water. You will need tables for your guests’ projects. We can bring additional tables if needed. Price is $35 per person for in home classes. Participants bring a small, clean object to paint (wood, metal, concrete, fabric – just about anything). Each person is provided a sample size of paint (choice of color) and a starter kit which includes brush, distressing sponge, lint-free rags, and handout of tips and tricks. There will be no tests and no pressure. : ) It is a fun, fast four hours and the satisfaction of transforming an old object into something new, using a Missouri product, and knowing you did it yourself is very rewarding. Thanks for your comment about how paint classes are beneficial because you can learn to make good art rather quickly. I like how you said that you can usually see examples while you work too. My husband and I are considering having our daughter take a painting workshop since she loves art and wants to get better. http://www.colorestartsupplies.com/workshops.html
